I had studied Byzantine music for 3 years when I was young, then I got into the bouzouki and now, at 28, I have decided to take up Byzantine music again, to remember what I knew and to continue further, maybe even for a degree. I started online lessons with Mary and from the first moment it was obvious that I could not have made a better choice. She has a way of making you understand everything. She is clear and explanatory and always makes sure that you have understood, before moving on. Every time I look forward to our next lesson and I am thinking more and more seriously about the degree! One of the best teachers I have ever had :-)

My daughter, 13 years old, goes to a music high school and while she is good at the guitar and other instruments, she had a lot of difficulty with Byzantine music. I am a professional folk singer - experienced - and although I am doing well in general, I have always admired and "envied" my colleagues who have a background in Byzantine music. I decided to dare and the experience justified me! I found MusicPal by chance, I liked the teachers' biographies and tried a lesson. Well, that was it! I immediately realized how good it would do me, the teacher won me over from the first moment and I started. 4 months have passed since then and my decision has proven to be absolutely correct. The lesson with my teacher is excellent! I was already singing from time to time and the teacher pointed out my strong and weak points from the first lessons and we started working on them. Now, after 6 months of lessons, I can say that I have learned the basics of Byzantine notation, I have corrected my most important mistakes, I have "tuned" my voice better, I perceive sounds more correctly and in general I have much more confidence when I sing.
